Welcome to Scott McLean Golf Academy 2017

Good Morning all, Welcome to our Term 3 August Newsletter, 2017. We have been seeing Red all over the place now and the the new uniforms look fantastic both on the Juniors and the Adults who have supported the Academy.

The US Amateur starts very soon and Golf Australia has 10 players in the field and 2 reserves, a record for GA. to read the fully story click the here. This should spark all of us to hit our straps as Australain golf moves from strength to strength. GA is about producing top 100 players and the pathways created from our junior programs and great coaches who coach these players helps GA to fulfill its goals. Grass roots is where it all starts, did you know that these 3 golfers have only had 1 coach, Jordan Spieth age 24 (Cameron McCormick 12 years), Rory Mcllroy age 28 (Micheal Bannon 21 years) & Jason Day age 29 (Col Swaton 17 years).

What a week in Golf, the Ladies British Open being played at Kingsbarns GCand the WGC Event at Firestone in the US. Great to see IK Kim, finally win her 1st major after the setback in 2012, she has had a stellar year thus far and will be looking to push up the world rankings, and in 2013 Hideki Matsuyama played alongside Tiger to see him win with an impressive 61 and today Hideki equaled that score and joined an elite group of 3 players to shoot a 61 and course record to win the WGC event. Our final preparations for the NSW adventure are coming together very well, we travel to Sydney to play 5 events on the local NSW Junior Tour then head to the Hunter Valley to play the Jack Newton International. The JNI boasts players from all over the Asian Pacific region with GA points and WR points on offer, there is 2 categories, Under 14's and Under 18's. Junior Presidents Cup Imagine playing for Gary Player or Jack Nicklaus as your Captain, well local Royal Perth boy Fred Lee will be doing exactly this next month in the USA. full story.

Our Social Media platforms are gaining great response throughout the globe, Facebook takes care of our local communities, however Instagram is a global platform and we have some very influential people following our every move, if you have an account be sure to follow scottmcleangolfacademy.

Adult Clinics Our Beginner Clinic on Wednesday mornings 9-10am is Full, our 10-11amPlayers Clinic also is Full, this leaves our Friday "FIXIT" class with space, Friday 10.30-11.30am $20 walk-in class, each week we cover a theme (eg: sandplay) and last week was bunkers, this week will be looking at our hybrids

My Golf Hillview GC hosted the last event and we had a couple of new players out there wearing the Reds, MyGolf is that stepping stone to being better, players such as Minjee Lee and Jason Day both coame through the MyGolf playing program. Private Lessons

I now have some allocated times for Adults and Children to have private lessons. If you are interested in having a private session please contact me on - 0421 829 457.

Adult Clinics and Private Tuition

Our adults clinics are up and running again and days are as follows.

Monday: 7-8pm (on hold) Wednesday: 9-10 am FULL Wednesday: 10-11am FULL Thursday: 6:30-7:30 pm Friday: 10:30- 11:30 am (new Friday "Fixit" session) all clinics are $20 and no bookings required.

If you would like to take private tuition, please contact me and we can work out a golf program to suit your needs.

SGA Tour Events

If there are any Adults or Children who would like to join a tour, we regularly hold events throughout WA, follow the below link for more options, The SGA Tour is heading into its busy time across Australia with so many big events happening on the East Coast, if you would like to be apart of those or just read up about SGA follow the link provided. Golf Tip - Swing Positions. Here are a couple of swings from Alysha who has been working so hard this year on getting her swing shorter and tighter, she has done an amazing job, photo 1 has great position 2, photo 2 has a fantastic position 4 and the other 2 photos are what we are going to look at. Photo 3 the red line - some people would say this is very flat and yes I agree 100%, however the golfer may like to see the shaft running through their right forearm, so before we say its wrong we need to beware of the golfers thoughts, as you can see photo 2 is the top of her swing so how can we argue its flat etc etc etc. Photo 4 the yellow line is where I like the shaft to be just on or under the right shoulder, so after discussing this Alysha and and asking her what she wants we will be working on position 3 this week in her lesson. There are 9 positions that I look at in the swing and if we can come to an agreement on those together then we can improve your golf.
